Research Uptake Manager

An international development organisation are looking for a Research Uptake Manager to develop and implement research uptake strategies for a variety of projects including evaluations and research programmes, and to design, implement and build capacity on research uptake tools and activities.

The Research Uptake hub aims to research, innovate and share learning on research uptake.It aims to improve the relevance, uptake and impact of the organisation's work and to ensure that the evidence generated by their programmes and projects is understood and used by policy makers and other stakeholders for policy and practice.

The Research Uptake hub also acts as a centre of innovation and capacity building on data visualisation and research communication. They curate and share knowledge, and organise seminars, workshops and trainings on research uptake and practical data visualisation skills.

This role will suit a mid-level professional with working experience in getting evidence into use, impactful research communication (especially on evaluations and quantitative data), and stakeholder engagement tools and practice.

You will have a chance to contribute and influence the development of a dynamic and innovative hub and area of work in the company as well as in the international development sector.

Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and oversee the implementation of research uptake strategies for a variety of projects in different international development sectors
-Conduct research and capacity building activities on tools and strategies to promote use of evidence and research impact
-Design and implement stakeholder engagement activities and strategic communications with relevant partners, including policy makers and donors.
-Promote use of innovative and accessible communication tools (such as infographics, dashboards, data visualisations) to disseminate statistical and research results (especially evaluation and quantitative data)
-Research, monitor and document the impact of project work and evidence uptake activities;
-Assist in organising internal and external events and responsible for updating the hub's multiple communication and learning platforms.

Skills and Experience required:
-Education at degree level in a subject relevant to their work and/or the work of the Research Uptake hub
-Experience in getting research and evidence into use and demonstrating project impact
-Excellent writing skills and the ability to communicate complex research findings to non-technical audiences
-Excellent training and facilitating skills
-Excellent interpersonal communication and networking skills, the ability to sell ideas, get buy-in and win support
-Interest and/or experience with data visualisation tools and software
-Some knowledge of social science, economics and evaluation would be an advantage
-Ideally some experience or at least an in international development
-Experience in influencing policy makers and relevant target audiences, preferably in developing countries would be benefical
