Internal Communications Manager

Harris Hill are pleased to be working with a mental health charity, who are recruiting an Internal Communications Manager, who will be responsible for managing the internal communications function to support organisational changes and priorities. You will work collaboratively with teams and be responsible for creating content for and developing effective communication channels with staff.

Key responsibilities:

-Create, implement and evaluate internal communication plans to support organisational changes and priorities – which can often be sensitive or contentious – working with internal clients
-Manage the national internal communication channels including the organisation"s intranet, the quarterly staff magazine, the fortnightly staff e-newsletter, the service managers" newsletter and staff screensaver advertisements, among others
-Manage the forward planning and implementation of internal communications campaigns, writing and editing content where appropriate, managing design and dissemination
-Train, advise and coach intranet editors in teams across the organisation to create content of the highest standard
-Provide internal communications consultancy to staff, including senior managers, including the Chief Executive, and his regular strategic staff communication
-Leading on internal communication on organisation-wide priorities including the 5 year strategic plan, Organisational Development strategy and internal promotion of service case studies
-Keep abreast of new techniques and ways of working through continuous professional development, gathering information on good internal communications practice from other organisations and learning opportunities and making recommendations for improvements

In order to apply you should have experience of the following:

-An undergraduate degree in a relevant subject or a relevant professional qualification accredited by the CIPR, CIM, IoIC or equivalent
-Experience of copywriting or journalism, writing for a variety of audiences
-Substantial experience of internal communications within a complex, geographically dispersed organisation
-Experience of planning and delivering internal communication campaigns within clear brand parameters
-Experience of managing an intranet and using online content management systems
-Experience in writing persuasively for a number of audiences with different interests and levels of literacy
-Experience of working closely with senior staff in the shaping and delivery of internal communications messages and advising on best practice
-Successfully managing projects to budget and deadline
-Ability to influence stakeholders across the organisation, including senior management
-Able to build credibility and develop effective relationships with stakeholders
-Ability to work independently and as a member of a small, tightly knit team
-Ability to act on initiative and exercise sound judgment
-Balancing multiple priorities and managing your own workload
