Head of Communications

Harris Hill are representing a high profile International environmental charity who works tirelessly to protect and preserve the environmental issues of today.


The evidence sourced in the field is used to raise awareness and to advocate meaningful change and policy reforms, lobbying those in power and producing authoritative reports and compelling short films. They work closely with a number of other organisations, developing close partnerships with local NGOs around the world as well as engaging with wildlife and enforcement agencies at international and national level


Key Responsibilities will include:

In cooperation with the Executive Director, Campaigns Director and other departmental heads, lead the development of any long-term strategy to achieve agreed long term organisational goals

Advise and support the management team in strategic planning. This includes advice on creating and implementing communications strategies and campaigns for brand building; media relations; introduction of appropriate technology; and the provision of consistent communications messages and materials to support these responsibilities

Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action

Produce cost-effective budgets to achieve action plans

Develop and maintain income and expenditure tracking and evaluation systems.

Ensure inclusion of Comms costs to achieve full cost recovery

Oversight of the production of printed, audio-visual and digital materials.






In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:

Understanding of all communications areas including: digital, media, social marketing, brand and reputation management, crisis communications

Knowledge of technological advances, especially in the field of web development and social media

Excellent understanding of how strategic communications can influence change

Senior management level experience in providing leadership; setting strategy, formulating plans, inspiring the workforce

Proven experience of line managing a team of communications professionals

Proven experience of developing and delivering effective communications strategies

Demonstrable experience of running social media campaigns
