Deputy Head of Development-Major Gifts

I am working on behalf of an amazing and dedicated institute of Higher Education specialising in the Arts. They are looking for a highly skilled individual to fill the role of Deputy Head of Development. In this role, you will work as a member of a small team, aiming to manage larger teams and expand the income and the relationships of the institution.

Key Responsibilities:

Securing revenue and capital income from a wide variety of philanthropic sources
Managing and growing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders of the School and its fundraising teams

Overseeing development of projects for the Major Gifts team and ensuring these opportunities are effectively utilised

Managing and writing activity reports for regular incoming finance using the departmental database (Raiser's Edge)

Proposing and agreeing to annual financial and activity targets for the Major Gift Teams

Managing the fundraising budget effectively

Flexibly attending events and performances to cultivate new donors and to steward existing supporters

To deputise for the Head of Development in their absence

Essential Criteria:

Educated to degree level or higher

Excellent knowledge of the Data Protection Act and tax-efficient giving and their implications in development work

Good understanding of the Institute of Fundraising's Codes of Fundraising Practice or equivalent

Experience of working closely with senior volunteers and a Campaign Board or equivalent

Knowledge of using fundraising/relationship databases, especially Raiser's Edge

Experience of developing and managing fundraising programmes, fundraising targets, and a proven track record in securing philanthropic gifts
Exceptional verbal and written skills and an ability to confidently interact with people at all levels
Experience of creating, developing, and implementing strategy

Demonstrable engagement with suitable networks and professional bodies with a commitment to continued professional development

Significant experience working as a trained and skilled manager and motivator
