Head of Finance & Operations
The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) are looking for an experienced, driven and dynamic Head of Finance and Operations to manage financial accounting, reporting and compliance in the UK. The post holder will work closely with international finance colleagues and the global finance team (based in the US). As well as treasury and banking for the UK, the post holder will also oversee our financial risk management and compliance, ensuring statutory tax and regulatory filings are completed accurately and on time and maintain a working knowledge of jurisdictional employment standards, regulations and trends and oversee office operations within the UK.
The post holder will manage and support the Finance Officer and Operations Coordinator, as well as acting as primary contact for HR locally (with the support of the UK Director and International HR team).
Founded in 1969, the International Fund for Animal Welfare saves individual animals, animal populations and habitats all over the world. With projects in more than 40 countries, IFAW provides hands-on assistance to animals in need, whether it's dogs and cats, wildlife and livestock, or rescuing animals in the wake of disasters. We also advocate saving populations from cruelty and depletion, such as our campaign to end commercial whaling and seal hunts.
The candidate must have:
A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. ICA, CIMA, CIPFA etc.).
Substantial experience in accounting and financial reporting at a managerial level.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and proficient in the use of computerised accounting systems.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
Ability to take initiative and work independently with attention to detail.
Experience of delivering successful results and outcomes through working in cross-disciplinary teams.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Commitment to animal welfare and conservation and to promoting IFAW's mission.
Applicants presenting with international and non-profit experience and expertise and experience in using Oracle Financials are preferred. Knowledge and experience of financial management of government and restricted funding sources is also desirable.
Salary: £46,769 to £57,621 dependent on experience (includes London Weighting).
