Insight Manager

Job description

An advice charity are looking for an Insight Manager (Children's and Young People Specialist) to be the organisation's expert in a specific field of insight. You will lead insight projects supporting the children and young people financial capability theme, but will work across multiple areas of expertise.

You will take full ownership of key strategic research projects from commissioning to project management, and presentation of insights
This person will build and maintain a strong network of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the insight agenda. They will also develop and maintain strong relationships with partner research agencies

Key Responsibilities:
-Commissioning robust and high quality market research that brings insight to the organisation's core
-Ensuring the day to day management of key insight projects, including tracking surveys (such as a Financial Capability Survey), landscape reviews and ad hoc primary research of varying scales. The work will be both qualitative and quantitative in nature.
-Given the focus on children and young people, the work is likely to include audiences such as parents, schools, policy makers / influencers, as well as children and young people themselves
-Engaging directly with internal and external subject matter experts and key stakeholders to identify evidence gaps and insight opportunities
-Ensuring consumer segments are at the heart of business decisions
-Extracting, interpreting, summarising and communicating key customer and business needs from research and data outputs
-Making objective use of qualitative and quantitative data, business information and knowledge to ensure innovative and accurate insights that stand up to external scrutiny are delivered to the business
-Effective management of internal stakeholders and external research agencies and partners to ensure the organisation delivers the right policy agenda
-Becoming the owner and subject matter expert for a strand of the business plan for this role, the individual will be focussing on understanding and improving financial capability amongst children and young people.
-However, the role will also interface with other related areas of expertise such as debt advice, adult financial capability and improving levels of savings and budgeting

Skills and Experience required:
-Experience working with or using research and insight relating to children and young people (ideally, but not essentially within a financial capability context)
-Relevant experience in working in market research either in an agency or clientside role
-Deep knowledge and demonstrable practical application of conducting or managing primary research projects, ideally with experience in both qualitative and quantitative techniques
Expert at producing consumer and market insights and business analysis to tell a coherent story
-Ability to manage third party agencies effectively.
-Excellent project management and delivery skills.
-Experience of engaging and working with subject matter experts and key stakeholders
-Strong influencing skills to ensure that insight is at the heart of business decisions
-Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with hands- on expertise of designing and utilising complex datasets
-Solid capability in customer-focused insight gathering and analysis, market research and performance evaluation methodologies, systems and practices.
-Knowledge and practical application of effective knowledge working and knowledge sharing approaches.
-Demonstrable ability to present complex information effectively to different audiences (e.g. senior management, policy makers and industry groups).
-Proficiency in advanced Excel functions (e.g. creating formulas, lookups and references, pivot tables, financial modelling) and PowerPoint
-Excellent networking skills and ability to confidently deal with external stakeholders and partners
