How we work

DIscover the approach we take and what to expect from a typical campaign.

Our approach

Every organisation is unique, making every leadership position distinctive too, with its own set of challenges, opportunities and requirements.

As a result, searches rarely follow identical paths, but at Harris Hill, they always begin with listening carefully to you. We take the time to get to know your organisation, to understand your values and ethos, and to build a clear profile of the kind of person you’re looking for.

From there, we'll tailor our approach to ensure it meets your needs, aligns with your availability and preferred level of involvement, and will ultimately deliver the required result.

Whatever the specifics, our experience and understanding of the sector means you can count on our search to be professional, ethical, inclusive, sensitive to the needs of your organisation and the wider context, and above all, effective.

Already searching?

That needn’t be a problem. We're happy to step in you're finding a position difficult to fill, and have a strong record of succeeding where previous avenues have failed.

“I found the whole process from initial conversation to arranging interviews swift and professional right through to accepting the offer. I would recommend the Harris Hill team to any charity board or executive team.”

What to expect

While every search is bespoke to your requirements, we know it can be helpful to have at least a broad outline of a typical campaign.

For a conventional leadership role with no unusual factors to consider, here are the stages and approximate timelines that might be expected.

Discovery meeting to gain greater understanding of your organisation and create detailed information pack for applicants

Advertising the role and proactive search for candidates

Harris Hill assess applications against agreed criteria and meet with the longlist.

Harris Hill meet with your stakeholders to review the longlist and decide on a shortlist of candidates to interview

First and second round of candidate interviews

Appointing the successful candidate and collecting references

This is a sample timeline, but the schedule we propose for each campaign will always reflect the specific circumstances of the role and your particular requirements, and can be adapted as necessary to align with stakeholders' diaries and commitments.
