About the Role

We are currently seeking a compassionate, organised and proactive Family Support Coordinator to join a community-based support service in West London.

The successful candidate will work with families experiencing a range of challenges, helping them access appropriate support and services to improve family wellbeing and outcomes for young children. The role involves assessing individual needs, coordinating support, maintaining accurate records and building effective relationships with families, professionals and community organisations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive referrals and assess individual and family support needs.

  • Complete risk assessments and identify safeguarding concerns, escalating issues in accordance with relevant procedures.

  • Coordinate appropriate support arrangements based on individual family circumstances.

  • Monitor and review support plans, recording progress and outcomes.

  • Provide one-to-one support where required and assist with group activities and community events.

  • Support the recruitment, induction, training and ongoing development of volunteers.

  • Coordinate volunteer placements and provide regular supervision and guidance.

  • Complete relevant background checks and reference checks in line with organisational procedures.

  • Liaise with relevant professionals and community services to ensure coordinated support.

  • Maintain accurate case records, reports and monitoring information.

  • Assist with community engagement, promotional activities and service development.

  • Follow organisational policies relating to safeguarding, confidentiality, equality and health and safety.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant experience in family support, community services, childcare or a related field.

  • Understanding of the needs of families with young children.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and responsibilities.

  • Awareness of services available to support children, parents and families.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Good administrative, organisational and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to engage sensitively with individuals experiencing complex circumstances.

  • Commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice.

  • Willingness to undertake training and work flexibly when required.

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.

  • Ability to travel within the designated service area.

Working Arrangements

This is a temporary position offering 15 hours per week at £16.48 per hour, with an immediate start available for a suitable candidate. Candidates must live locally, as the role involves visiting families in the Ealing area.
