Accounts Assistant (Purchase Ledger)

Harris Hill Charity recruiters are proud to be working alongside an independent school who are seeking a full-time Accounts Assistant with at least 2 years' experience in an accounts-based role who is keen to develop and build their skills.

It is important that we find a candidate who is looking to grow, the role may suit you if you are looking to progress your accounting career and currently pursuing an AAT Qualification (or equivalent).

The successful candidate will manage the purchase ledger on a day-to-day basis, working closely with school staff and suppliers as part of a small finance team. The role requires a positive 'can-do' attitude and a willingness to provide excellent customer service. Your skills as communicator and your ability to establish & nurture relationships must be first-class.

Your duties will include:
Day to day responsibility for maintaining and updating the purchase ledger;
Accurately inputting supplier invoices ensuring the correct coding;
Preparing weekly payment batches for review;
Resolving issues relating to invoices and payments;
Reconciling supplier ledgers with statements;
Issuing invoices for authorisation and coding;
Liaising with school staff and the Managers to ensure clear identification and recording of rechargeable costs;
Assisting with the month end process;
Initially assisting the Accounts Manager with the bank reconciliation (eventually you will take ownership of the process)
Providing support and assistance to the finance team as required;

Experience:
At least 2 years' experience in a purchase ledger role or similar;
Experience of using an accounts payable software package.

Desirable:
Experience working with-in a school/charity/non-profit environment.
