Harris Hill is delighted to be partnering with an international educational charity, searching for a Board Secretary to join their team.

The role of the Secretary is primarily responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the meetings of the Board and its associated Committees; facilitating the delivery of the strategic objectives of the organisation. The Secretary will work with the Chair, Director-General, Trustees, staff and key stakeholders monitoring compliance with various legislative and regulatory requirements and ensuring the organisation operates in line with the principles of good governance. In the 6 months from September 2020 to February 2021 there will be a specific remit to deliver the outcomes of a recent Governance Review, managing the changes in accordance with the Royal Charter and Bye Laws. Board elections and the AGM will be key deliverables in this period. The Secretary will be responsible to the Board of Governors and staff of the Union through the Chairman for ensuring that they comply at all times with the terms of the Royal Charter and the Bye Laws, current Charity Law and current best business practice.  

The successful candidate will have previous experience of working in a similar capacity as a Board Secretary, with a good understanding of statutory and regulatory frameworks relating to charities, companies and membership bodies. Previous knowledge and experience of the charitable sector and the procedures and duties of Boards and charity governance including corporations with charitable objectives established by Royal Charter is essential.  

Contract: This is initially a 6 month contract until February 2021.    

Salary: £50K - £55K per annum.
