Chief Executive Officer

Job description

I am currently recruiting for an inspiring CEO for a 6 month contract, to lead an amazing NHS support charity as they evolve and grow. The charity has been set up to support the welfare and wellbeing of those fighting to keep us healthy and safe during the COVID-19 crisis, and beyond. 
 
Reporting to the Board, your key responsibilities will be:
Leading, motivating and developing their committed staff to provide the highest quality services to health care workers and those who rely on the charity's support
Ensuring that the business strategy, customer service and involvement objectives and performance targets are defined, met and improved
Acting as an ambassador for the charity, championing the charity's values and leading their engagement with donors, partners, stakeholder's, staff, and regulators
Maintaining excellent relationships with the board of trustees, working with them to maintain an effective governance framework.
 
Job responsibilities (working alongside the Chair, Board of Trustees and Leadership Team):
Create, communicate, and implement the vision, mission, and overall direction.
Lead the implementation of the overall strategy.
Solicit advice and guidance, when appropriate, from the Chair and Board of Trustees.
Formulate and implement the strategic plan that guides the direction of the charity.
Oversee the complete operation of the charity.  
Evaluate the success of the charity in achieving its goals.
Pursue potential sources of funding for the charity.   
Represent the charity to all stakeholder groups.  
Create a 12-18-month operational plan
Ensure the highest level of governance and financial integrity are maintained.
Responsible for providing high quality services, ensuring the efficient and effective management of programme projects.
 
External Organisation Relations:
Ensuring a pro-active and high standard of external institutional relations.
Maintaining and extending the charity's active engagement with both private, public and third sector stakeholder's.  
Identifying and nurturing external commercial sponsors for the operations and programmes of the charity.
Liaising with the Marketing Manager to deliver member acquisition and retention strategies.    
Creating effective media strategies with the Board of Trustees.
Nurturing philanthropic sources of funding for the charity.  
Overseeing training activities. Working with the Head of Training, responsible for providing high quality services in the following areas ensuring efficient and effective training programmes to the charity's membership and general public
 
Staff Development and Performance:
Ensuring a continuous staff performance and development processes through the following actions:
Building a positive and productive culture in the workplace by listening to employee and Trustee opinions.  
Evaluating and implementing the charity's HR review.
Creating an effective staff development programme. 
 
Essential:
Ability to work in a start-up.
Proven experience as a Chief Executive or other senior managerial position in the third sector.
