St Margaret’s Hospice seeks a highly strategic, innovative and values-driven person for our CEO role to ensure that we continue to thrive and achieve our objectives well into the future. Our next Chief Executive will lead us as we push forward in delivering the highest quality, leading-edge services to the people of Somerset.

As a charity, we have been at the heart of the Somerset community for over forty years, providing compassionate care and support for families who are facing a life-limiting illness. We provide free specialist palliative care for the community, and serve a population of approximately 520,000 people. It’s our belief that everyone in our community deserves the right care and support at the end of life.  We play a pivotal role in the wider Somerset Integrated Care System, offering expertise in end of life care to support more people to live as well as possible until they die, as well as working with their loved ones to support them through treatment, bereavement and beyond.

It’s an exciting time to join us as CEO. Although we face a challenging operating environment that is going through transformational change, we are in a financially strong position to further grow, innovate and develop in line with our vision, mission, values and strategic goals. We need a CEO who can pull together the wealth of commitment, expertise and dynamism to fully deliver on our potential.

Key details:

Role:  Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at St Margaret’s Hospice

Salary:  circa £100,000

Contract:  Permanent, full time

Location:   Yeovil and Taunton – average of 3 days per week to be spent onsite or visiting   / meeting key stakeholders

As well as a demonstrable alignment with our mission, vision and values, our next CEO will be able to show:

  • Evidential success in strategic management and stewardship of organisational leadership

  • Experience of strategic development and implementation

  • Experience of working at Board level or equivalent experience

  • Expertise and experience in successfully leading and managing transformational organisational change

  • Experience in or knowledge of the Health/ Social Care sector

  • Experience of operating and influencing risk management

  • Ability to think, plan, manage and execute whole organisational strategic modelling that is beneficiary focused

  • Evidence of networking and ability to build external relationships and influence to engage a wide range of audiences and colleagues
