Executive Director

Job description

Executive Director
Permanent
London
£50,000

Theodora Children's Charity is a truly inspirational and pioneering charity which successfully works to improve children's experience of being in hospital.

Forming part of an international family with its origins in Switzerland, over the past 25 years they have made a positive impact on over half a million children and their families. They improve children's experience of being in hospital through visits from their professional performers, called Giggle Doctors. They increase opportunities for play, reduce distress and anxiety and give children back an element of control. They achieve this through improvised play which puts the child at the centre of the interaction and through the use of music, magic, storytelling, comedy and mime.

They are looking to scale and are currently training a new intake of performers, which will bring them up to a total of 35 Giggle Doctors across England who will visit over 35,000 children each year. They benefit from a small, devoted and committed team and they are in the final year of a three-year strategy so there is plenty of scope and an opportunity for their new Executive Director to shape the future growth of the charity.

In this, their 25th year, they are also at a very exciting stage in their development. They are looking for someone ambitious and experienced to lead the charity who has a strong background in ideally major donor or corporate fundraising and who brings some knowledge of charities beyond fundraising.

You will be responsible for building on their success to date and driving future growth. Specifically, they seek to significantly increase funding to enable their work to find and reach even more children.

You will need to demonstrate that you:

are a passionate advocate for their work;

  • have the ability to develop their funding and support networks, drive their fundraising ambitions and fundraise;
  • have the tenacity to represent the charity externally to ensure broader recognition;
  • have the track record to build their internal capabilities;
  • can effectively leveraging the Board and their supporter network;
  • identify new partners to broaden their links and reputation.

They want a candidate who is committed to their values of authenticity, interaction, diversity, excellence and enthusiasm.
