Communications and Research Officer

Job description

A great opportunity has arisen for a temporary Communications and Research Officer in order to support the Chief Executive and the Executive Team in ensuring the effective delivery of the communications and marketing functions of the charity. This will be a temporary, full time or part-time contract for approximately 1-2 months.


Key Responsibilities will include:

Contribute to the development and implementation of integrated communications and marketing strategies for the charity.
Develop and deliver communications and marketing activities for the Association, including external communications with customers, stakeholders, media and internal communications.
Creating content that is engaging and tailored to its target audience, including accurate and compelling case studies, press releases, newsletters, social media content and email communications.
Working with an external graphic design agency to develop the organisation s new branding guidelines and promote adherence to them in all communications.
Responsibility for managing the delivery of a range of planned and ad-hoc projects.
Assist in the development and implementation of new marketing materials for the charity.
Write and disseminate targeted press releases to media and develop good working relationships with them to secure high-quality coverage.
Proactively manage the charity s social media presence including maintaining the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube accounts.
Maintain an up-to-date the website using the Content Management System Umbraco.
Collaborating with an external graphic design agency to produce the quarterly residents newsletter, the Annual Review and other publications as required.
Producing marketing collateral and other publications including creating and commissioning content, proofing and editing submitted content, and compiling design briefs and print specifications working with colleagues in other departments
Organise purchasing of promotional materials and exhibition materials as required.
Undertake the organisation of official events for the organisation, including Tenant and Stakeholder events.
Responsibility for developing the staff internal communications platform (Yammer) as an effective internal communications tool, including ongoing maintenance and updating.

In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:

Experience within a communications environment
Experience of copywriting for different audiences and channels
Experience of creating and editing digital content for multiple platforms and channels, e.g. websites, social media
Experience in producing newsletters, Annual Reviews and marketing collateral
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely
Effective partnership and stakeholder management, supporting positive internal and external relationships
Ability to write good quality press releases
Computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience of using website content management systems (CMS)
Effective project management and planning skills
Excellent numerical and analytical skills, and an ability to understand and interpret information
Ability to build relationships at all levels
Confident and calm approach to work dealing with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
