Communications Assistant

Job description

A social investment charity in London, seek a Communications Assistant to cover permanent recruitment of around 2-3 months.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and develop a suite of printed communications materials in line with our agreed messaging and brand guidelines, for delivery on time and on budget
Working with our external design agency, take the day-to-day lead on the planning and production of core publications such as our Impact Report
Scrutinise requests for information from internal and external stakeholders, responding with solutions that make the most of the opportunities presented and most effectively embed our messages among their target audiences
Create a systematic approach to the production of accurate and relevant data, e.g grant data and outcome statistics, and lead on the regular and timely dissemination of such data to Foundation staff and for publication across communications channels.
Contribute creatively and proactively to multi-channel communications plans, resourcing other communications officers and the wider Foundation with messaging to support their campaigns and projects
Provide briefing notes, slides and general administrative support to Foundation members speaking at external events
Together with other communications officers, ensure all administrative requirements of the communications team are managed and delivered
Keep up to date on relevant issues/policies affecting the Foundation and its work

Experience:
Between 1-2 years' experience working in a busy communications function responsible for producing collateral for a wide range of audiences.
Impeccable attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to manage their own work in a number of streams at the same time, delivering on deadline and on budget
A passion for storytelling and tenacious approach to landing our key messages consistently
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to create standard content for other staff, e.g. slidedecks, social media content, handouts, web copy etc
Confidence working with suppliers to create specialist content e.g. reports, leaflets etc. within time and budget restraints
Understanding and experience of using and adapting content across the full range of communications platforms
A professional manner, able to establish effective working relationships internally and externally, ranging from colleagues and to the vulnerable people funded by charities, and to represent the organisation with credibility
Some knowledge, understanding or experience of the voluntary sector, ideally with charities tackling disadvantage and/or of working with vulnerable individuals
A great attitude, and an instinct for taking initiative, making suggestions and working as part of a flexible and responsive team that is constantly seeking to improve
