Database Officer - Part-time

Job description

Leading animal charity based in London are seeking a Database Officer (part-time). The Database Officer, part of the fundraising team, is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the database ensuring that the files received from about 50 third party agencies and internal webpages and databases are scheduled and loaded regularly with the highest level of accuracy and integrity.

In this small and hands on charity, datasets vary between upwards of 40,000 records to a handful and some manual data entry will sometimes be most appropriate. There are 14 regular imports, a few one-offs and a few files to input manually because they are low volume. Close liaison with colleagues collecting specific data and leads for fundraising in various forms will be necessary. Please note this role is Part-time (24 hours).

Key responsibilities
Offering expert advice to users to ensure they have skills, tools and knowledge to maximise the potential of the database and supporting any new users
Running PTES' database ensuring it is as fit-for-purpose as possible
First point of contact for all database requests, ensuring that requests are logged and fulfilled in a timely manner to support the fundraising and other activities such as regular surveys
Ensuring that The Raiser's Edge database is configured and prepared to record GDPR/consent data from its various data capture points
Efficiently performing data manipulation coming from various sources for import into The Raiser's Edge
Ensuring information is entered correctly, carrying out data quality control and ensuring information is retained correctly
Implementing and managing regular internal data cleansing processes to ensure that data quality within the database is as high as possible
Setting standards across the office for data collection and ensuring templates and guidelines are kept up to date
Liaising with internal and external data suppliers
Ensuring that The Raiser's Edge software upgrades are planned and implemented in a timely manner
Maintaining an awareness of development tools associated with the database that might improve operations


Person specification
Experience' professional experience with the collection, collation and analysis of data in the not-for-profit/charity sector
Experience of database management within a fundraising environment
Extensive experience of CRM systems, and knowledge and understanding of Raiser's Edge
Ideally experience of using and creating import profiling within Importomatic and experience using RE NXT
Awareness of GDPR
