Direct Marketing Officer

A great opportunity has arisen for a Direct Marketing Officer for a health related charity in order project manage direct marketing appeals, delivering them on time and in line with plans and tracking budget. The DM Officer will also present to external agencies training to fundraisers on the charity s case for support as well as working on other areas within direct marketing including our the organisation programme.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Assist with delivery of direct marketing campaigns across a range of channels including digital, post and payroll giving. You will work across all aspects of campaigns from coordinating and writing briefs, creative, data, production, fulfilment to producing results.
Undertake the planning and implementation of the digital and print welcome journeys. You ll produce copy as well as Liaising with our data team and external agencies to deliver an excellent supporter experience.
Brief and work with external agencies using service level agreements, including digital, direct marketing, and fulfilment houses.
Work across teams to ensure campaigns are briefed within agreed SLAs and processes are followed/monitored.
Liaise positively with external agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure that all campaigns, publications and materials fall within the charity s tone of voice and brand guidelines, and the charity s policies are adhered to.
Research developments within the not-for-profit sector, particularly around direct marketing and collate information to be used in decision making for developing the direct marketing programme.
Work with your manager to achieve agreed targets for income and expenditure, including ensuring that both are tracked, recorded and reported on, and dealing with any relevant queries.
Set up and produce campaign analysis reports for direct marketing appeals, including recommendations to inform and improve future appeals.
Provide day-to-day administrative support to direct marketing team, as required. Including producing weekly results and commentary on direct marketing appeals as well as raising POs
Undertake other duties that may from time to time be necessary, that are compatible with the nature and grade of this post.

In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:

Demonstrable fundraising experience of confidently project managing direct marketing appeals across a range of media
Experience of liaising between internal stakeholders and external suppliers, such as printers. Dealing confidently with external suppliers such as creative agencies and fulfilment houses

Experience of writing copy to an excellent standard. Including thank you letters and email communications. You will also have experience of providing insightful feedback on copy and design to external suppliers.
Experience of using and analysing results from a fundraising database, including being able to monitor and evaluate results and ensuring that full records are maintained on the database in the process.
Experience of presenting charity training to fundraising agencies such as telemarketing agencies, face to face or payroll agencies and fundraisers.
Experience of working within agreed budgetary constraints, ensuring that expenditure is maintained within budgets and that income is closely monitored.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise copy for marketing materials.
Up-to-date knowledge of fundraising approaches and techniques and specifically in direct marketing
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office packages, internet and using databases as relevant to role.
