Editor & Brand Manager

Job description

EDITOR & BRAND MANAGER

41,000 per annum, plus 10 per cent employer pension contributions

From the donkeys of Marrakech to the elephants of Myanmar, SPANA teams transform the lives of working animals and the communities who depend on them in over 25 developing countries. Every day brings extraordinary new stories and we need you to help us tell them.

We may not be the biggest charity, but we're adventurous, ambitious and creative just as you will be.

Our in-house communications team delivers a steady flow of creative and impactful stories through media relations, publications and digital media. Your job will be to use our in-house publications, particularly SPANA News and our annual review, to inspire and engage our supporters, bringing the extraordinary work of our overseas teams to life with your exceptional copywriting and storytelling, supported by the breathtaking imagery supplied to you by our content team.

You'll also be responsible for reviewing all the branded material, campaigns and updates that go out across all our channels, from daily Facebook updates to short films to fundraising appeals. You will ensure that all our communications are in line with our brand guidelines, both in terms of the visual design and the copy. You'll need a sharp eye for detail!

You'll also be involved in developing the SPANA brand as we approach our centenary, making sure that we continue to communicate in ways that are engaging, inspirational and relevant.

Working within a small team, you'll enjoy a supportive working environment, training and development opportunities, a healthy budget, flexible working, generous benefits and occasional international travel too.

Of course, you'll need to be an excellent writer, demonstrating flair and creativity but also a real eye for detail and proven expertise in tailoring your approach to meet the needs of your audience too.

If all this sounds like you, we want to hear from you today. Join SPANA and be part of our mission to transform the lives of working animals in the world's poorest communities.

About SPANA

Around the developing world, over half a billion people rely on a huge but largely unrecognised workforce of donkeys, horses, elephants and camels to support their livelihoods. At least 200 million working animals undertake the roles of trucks, taxis and tractors but only a small fraction will have access to even the most basic veterinary care. For most, they must work on through the pain.

SPANA's vision is a world where every animal lives a life free from suffering and is treated with compassion. Our dedicated teams work in over 25 countries around the world to:
TREAT animals in need, relieving pain and preventing suffering
TRAIN communities and professionals to improve care
TEACH children to develop respect and compassion towards animals
