Executive Director

Job description

Organisation: UAE - UK Business Council
Job Title: Executive Director
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000
Hours: Full time, with occasional weekend and evening work
Location: London, but with flexible working

The UAE-UK Business Council (UUBC) is the premier business-led organization dedicated to facilitating greater trade and investment between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK). The UAE and the UK have a long-standing bilateral relationship. The UUBC leverages the depth and strength of these ties in order to provide its members with access to senior decision makers in business and government, with the aim of strengthening bilateral trade and investment.

The UAE-UK Business Council was established in 2009. It is a small, high-level body co-chaired by His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh and Sir Edward Lister. It met for the first time in September 2011 in Abu Dhabi and has met twice a year ever since, alternating between the UAE and the UK.

Our Members include large corporate companies, SMEs, Government representatives, Institutions and Business Organisations.

This is an exciting time for the UUBC. With high-profile, newly appointed Co-Chairs in His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh and Sir Edward Lister, the UUBC has decided to restructure to increase efficiency and better achieve its organisational objectives. The creation of a new Joint Secretariat in London has opened the role of Executive Director to lead this new body.

Our new Executive Director will be a self-starter, with a proven track record of leadership and commercial acumen. They will be responsible for establishing this new Joint Secretariat in London, as well as building and maintaining the UUBC s relationships at the highest levels of government, business, and academia. Ultimately, they will play a key role in delivering the UUBC s main objective: achieving 25 billion in trade between the UAE and the UK.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive senior-level business, corporate, or government experience.
  • Experience of developing and implementing wide-reaching strategies.
  • Experience of running programmes and initiatives either in a government or corporate environment, ideally in both the UK and UAE.
  • Excellent organisational and budget management skills and a proven track record of delivering results.
  • Ability to influence senior level stakeholders
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and networking skills.
