Finance Manager

I am excited to be working with a leading national charity to recruit an experienced Finance Manager for a 6-month fixed-term contract. This is a fully remote role, ideal for a hands-on finance professional who can hit the ground running and bring expert-level Excel and financial reporting skills to a busy, purpose-driven finance team.

Finance Manager – 6-month FTC (Fully remote | Excel expert required)

Remote (UK-based only)
Full-time (flexible, will consider 4-day week) | Fixed-term contract (6 months)

The role

Reporting to the Head of Finance and Planning, you’ll oversee the day-to-day financial reporting function, with line management responsibility for two direct reports. You’ll take ownership of cashflow forecasting, VAT compliance, payroll oversight, and contribute to month-end processes and system improvements.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the weekly cashflow forecast and reporting

  • Oversee payroll review and VAT/Gift Aid submissions

  • Lead the month-end close and review of balance sheet reconciliations

  • Support finance system testing and improvements (Dynamics GP, Salesforce)

  • Business partner with internal stakeholders to review budgets and forecasts

  • Line-manage the Finance Supervisor and Payroll Administrator

Candidate profile

  • Fully or nearly qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience

  • Expert-level Excel skills – essential

  • Strong experience in cashflow forecasting, month-end processes, and payroll

  • Confident managing and coaching finance staff

  • Experience working in or with charities (VAT/Gift Aid knowledge)

  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment
