Head of Communications

Job description

Harris Hill is working with a charity that promotes remembrance for the genocide committed during WW2, aiding their search for a Head of Communications to see them through their main event of the year.

The role will be 6 months, full time and with at least 3 days per week in their SW London office.

Objectives:
To communicate the messages and impact of the event and ensure it is widely recognised as a day of national significance, by leading on the development and delivery of all communications.
To lead on all charity communications, developing and delivering an integrated communications strategy that communicates the messages and impact of the event effectively.

Responsibilities:
Oversee all of the events communications, and charity communications functions, including public affairs, media, social media, digital content and website, to increase reach and impact.
Lead the creation of both the in-person event and the broadcast UK Ceremony for the event.
Oversee the annual development, delivery and evaluation of a media strategy, and use media to increase our impact through the year. Act as a spokesperson for the charity as required.
Develop sensitive responses for complex political and social issues and provide advice to the charity's CEO and Trustees.
Lead the 'Light the darkness' national moment for the event to embed it in the national consciousness.
Ensure sensitive inclusion of fundraising messages in appropriate external communications.
Oversee survivor engagement and ensure experiences of survivors and those affected by the Holocaust and subsequent genocides are central to the event and charity.
Lead and manage the Communications Team; manage the Communications budget; manage other agency and supplier relationships; coordinate charity groups and relevant trustee committees.
Work as part of the team to realise the charitable aims of the charity and the organisational strategic plan; undertake other tasks as may reasonably be required.
