Head of Media and PR

Job description

Harris Hill is looking for a Head of Media and PR to support a national children's charity on an interim basis, likely to be 8 to 12 weeks.

Key duties

Day to day management of the press office and three line reports overseeing media enquiries, setting up new cross-organisational ways of working, supporting on key projects including a Report launch and Christmas, advising senior leadership on reputational and issues management.

Responsibilities for perm equivalent role:
1. Build and lead a rapid response and news-desking culture, with clear decision making to unlock opportunities. Act as an enabler, harnessing skills to deliver maximum output and impact across earned and shared media
activities.
2. Provide support to the Leadership Team in handling reputational and crisis management in the media. -scan to assess and manage risk in public facing activity. Provide advice,comms positions and responses.
3. Develop media plan and editorial positioning to reach and engage priority audiences. Meet objectives of overarching
campaign, media 'moments' and Youth Impact priorities; shaping public attitudes and understanding of issues faced by young people.
4. Ensure bold and powerful storytelling across media content and campaigns. Elevate youth voice, give agency and inclusive
representation, and root our comms in our brand voice, to deliver cut-through & raise brand profile


Experience required

Team management, experience of launching research reports, Christmas fundraising campaigns and crisis management.

This role can be 28-35 hours per week, so 4 or 5 days. The equivalent salary is £48-49k
