Job description

I am working with a leading health charity who has a new requirement for a Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships on a permanent basis. In this newly created role, you will be required to lead the team across major donor, corporate and trust, providing outstanding stewardship that will result in income being maximised. 

This is a truly exciting time to join the organisation as they have seen rapid growth across philanthropy and partnerships over the last couple of years and anticipate further growth over the coming months.

You will need to be a motivated and passionate fundraiser with solid experience across various income streams. However, the focus will be on Major Donor.


Salary 52,000 C

This is a full time permanent roles. However, 30 hours could be considered.


Key Responsibilities:

To develop and implement the Philanthropy and Partnerships strategy to achieve short and long term objectives.

Lead the team in building profitable, multi-year relationships with companies, trusts and high-net-worth individuals, achieving agreed objectives.

Manage the Corporate, Trusts and Major Donor teams effectively.

Work with the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the CEO and trustees to engage new supporters, and to manage relationships with existing supporters.

Manage your own portfolio of Key Major Donors and be involved in the most significant opportunities for new partnerships, with high-net-worth individuals, trusts and companies.

Manage team members in line with organisations policy and practice, developing and retaining skills, ensuring motivation and performance

Work in partnership with the Communications Team to ensure the brand is developed and promoted to increase the climate of support

To be an effective part of the leadership team for the Fundraising & Communications department, taking responsibility for delivery of the strategy and development of the team.

Essential Criteria to be considered


Substantial experience of working with high-net-worth individuals, and also experience of either trust or corporate fundraising.

Creative and entrepreneurial, able to spot opportunities and identify ways to present and package the charity's work

Commitment to sound financial management and achieving financial targets

Strong track record of income growth from businesses, trusts and/or high net worth individuals.

Personal experience of managing volunteers / senior relationships to achieve substantial gifts.

Experience of leadership and effective management, including motivating, retaining, coaching and developing staff.

Experience in developing and delivering strategy and supporting operational plans.
