Job description

With a strong presence in the region of Slough and Berkshire East (ACSABE), this incredible independent charity supports the elderly by offering a comprehensive range of personal amenities, successful home services and Day Centres, and most recently a progressive and innovative befriending service.

Founded in 1979, it provides valuable support for the elderly and vulnerable within their community. This is achieved via their Home from Hospital Service (based within an NHS Hospital), their Befriending Plus Services (via telephone support and befriending home visits), their successful Home Services, Advocacy support and Day Care Services. Their professionally trained nurses undertake home assessments and the Charity take client referrals from local government organisations.

Across this area they have fourteen retail shops. Each shop offers an excellent shopping experience, where customers find many quality, pre-loved items of clothing, accessories, books, toys and home goods.

Age Concern Slough & Berkshire East are looking for a Head of Retail to join the team on a permanent basis.

Location: 3 days at the Charity sites & 2 days homeworking

Salary: Circa £42,000 per annum

Contract: Permanent

As the Head of Retail, you will report directly to the CEO and lead on the on the Retail strategy, supporting the growth of both the Retail shop Portfolio as well as the development of Ecommerce site. You will be directly responsible for managing all fourteen shops in the current portfolio, maximising income, profit and Gift Aid in order to raise funds for the fantastic work of this charity. The post holder will be responsible for the management of all trading activities, taking overall responsibility for the paid staff and volunteer workforce.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate with considerable experience working at a strategic level within the retail sector. The successful candidate will have proven experience of multi-site retail management and reporting and a demonstrable track record. Flexibility will be offered for the right candidate.
