Head of Strategy and Impact

Job description

A charity are looking for a Head of Strategy and Impact to support the charity's strategic review for 12 months. This role will be critical to developing the strategy and business plan for the next three years and developing impact framework to ensure we are clearly evaluating our progress towards our aims

This role will direct, coordinate, and lead the strategic review. It will ensure the development and clear articulation of the strategy into a business plan for the next three years to deliver to this. It will also lead on the development of a clear theory of change model to reflect their approach, as well as establishing a new Impact framework to evaluate work to be clear of what is working towards delivering the change beneficiaries need.

Key Responsibilities:
-Shaping their approach - Drawing on experience of strategic tools, techniques and devices to aid clarity of approach, thinking and decision making.
-Building on process development so far to shape further and establish clarity of work at each stage.
-Overarching project coordination keeping the charity on track and supporting delivery of reports and recommendations at key stages.
-Championing the approach within the organisation, supporting staff engagement and strategic understanding.
-Coordinating work groups and enabling appropriate contributions across the organisation.
-Undertake critical aspects of work - Leading on situational analysis work, working alongside small working group on beneficiaries needs review and small working groups on market mapping and trends analysis, undertaking key aspects of work.
-Supporting the insights development at key stages of the work, capturing work and thinking, turning into clear summaries to inform next stage, as well as working alongside staff to draw out and shape critical insights.
-Working with the SLT as an objective and healthy challenge to support thinking.
-Leading the development of the strategy into a clear three year plan and detailed operational planning for year one
-Supporting teams to establish a series of funding bids, directly linked to the strategy to broaden the funding base
Direct the development and implementation of an intellectually and operationally rigorous impact architecture and measurement framework for use for our strategy (including propositions for associated infrastructural and resourcing requirements).
-Drawing on previous experience of supporting charities to devise Theory of change models support the development of a new model to reflect new purpose and strategy.
-Developing the approach and methodology to impact and evaluation


Skills and Experience required:
-Significant experience of managing impact functions and impact measurement and analysis
-Experience of supporting development and implementation of impact frameworks and evaluation
-Significant experience of strategic planning and successfully managing and leading strategy development and organisational change
-A proven record of strategic planning, project and staff management
-High level of understanding of organisational development and cultural change
-High level knowledge of evaluation approaches and methodology
-Understanding of systems and processes to enhance impact analysis
-An understanding of the key issues around impact analysis and ability to apply this knowledge.
