I am excited to be working with an amazing horticultural charity in search of a part-time (2 days a week) HR Adviser. The charity's aim is to improve lives by providing excellent learning and horticultural therapy in an award-winning garden that's open to all. The organisations main charitable work includes horticultural training for people not in work or education and horticultural therapy for vulnerable and disabled adults.

Purpose of the role:
The HR Advisor will work with the CEO to ensure the organisation has appropriate HR advice and support on all matters relating to employment so that the organisation is always compliant and serves the best interests of all stakeholders.

Core responsibilities:
HR Advisory
The HR Advisor is responsible for providing a full generalist HR service by:
Working collaboratively with the CEO and line managers to provide first line advisory support and advice on all employee relations issues including, but not limited to grievances and disciplinaries, absences, performance management etc. ensuring compliance with policy and employment contracts and accurate related data and record keeping.
Advise and support managers in accordance with current employment legislation and relevant policies and procedures
Supporting recruitment activity for the area ensuring recruitment practices are up to date, compliant, inclusive and compliant with Walworth Garden and regulatory procedure
Working with line managers so that all staff training and development needs are identifed, well organised, cost-effective, in-line with the strategic plan and delivered in a timely manner.
Developing and maintaining all policies relating to HR
Providing employee support, ensuring any issues are identified in advance, reported to management where appropriate and resolved in a timely manner.

HR Administration:
Working with managers to support all new employees, ensuring that all required new employee paperwork is completed and the employee induction is e?ciently and appropriately carried out.
Ensuring that the employee handbook is up to date and that any necessary amendments are carried out as necessary.
Assisting in the creation and upkeep of staff Job Descriptions and contracts as necessary.
Ensuring all necessary personnel records keeping are well managed, maintained, digitalised and archived where possible.
Liaising with managers and staff to administer all matters relating to the successful completion of staff and volunteer basic Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks and renewals.
Providing all necessary correspondence accurately to staff in a timely manner.
To process leavers in a timely manner with payroll, preparing all leave communication, and ensuring a satisfactory exit interview takes place and any action necessary is completed.

HR Projects:
Working with the CEO to administer and evaluate an appraisal or performance management system that suits the culture of the organisation and that works for all departments
Overseeing the successful application for Investors in People status
Maintaining an appropriate staff well being programme available to all employees
Managing and delivering a holistic reward strategy
Utilizing employee engagement tools such as surveys and working groups to measure engagement levels and produce reports

Joint responsibilities:

All staff share the following responsibilities:
Preparing reports for Board meetings and keeping other staff informed and advised of matters at staff meetings and any actions that may be required by them
Compliance with Health and Safety regulations and ensuring the health and safety of all trainees, staff, and visitors to the Garden
Keeping the Garden secure and avoiding preventable damage to its buildings, vans, tools and equipment.
Engaging with other staff and trustees to contribute to future developments, at Staff and Board meetings
Daily maintenance of the Garden's buildings and property
Responding to general enquiries about the Garden, contracted services, learning and therapy from individuals or other organisations
Adhering to all matters relating to appropriate con?dentiality and GDPR
Adhering to the Garden's environmental ethos
