HR Officer
Job description
Are you an experienced HR professional looking to make a meaningful contribution to a national organisation at the forefront of eye health and clinical education?
An exciting opportunity has opened up to join a small and welcoming HR team within the UK’s professional body for those working in vision and eye care. This organisation plays a vital role in supporting clinicians, setting professional standards, shaping public health policy, and advancing research and education in the field of optometry.
Following an internal promotion, they are seeking an HR Officer to help deliver a high-quality, proactive HR service across the organisation. The role is offered as a permanent contract with flexibility on hybrid work. The post holder is expected to be in the workplace 20%-40% of their time.
Reporting to the Director of People, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality HR operations across the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding through to payroll, policy development, and day-to-day advisory support for staff and managers. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and codes of practice, while keeping HR data and systems accurate and up to date.
The successful candidate will bring solid generalist HR experience, strong Excel and data management skills, and an understanding of pensions administration and employment legislation. A CIPD qualification or equivalent experience is required, and familiarity with end-to-end recruitment and first-line employee relations advice will be key.
To apply, please send your CV and a Cover Letter (max 2 A4 pages) explaining your interest in the role and how your experience aligns with what we are looking for.
Applications close at 23:59 on Thursday 17 July 2025. Interviews will be held in person on 29th – 30th July in central London.
Please note, only successful applicants will be contacted with further information.
