Interim Safeguarding Lead/Head of Safeguarding

Job description

I am excited to be working with a well-established children's charity in search of an Interim Safeguarding Lead/Head of Safeguarding. This role will be a 3-month FTC to cover for the charity's Head of Safeguarding and Director of Safeguarding.
You will be an experienced International Safeguarding professional, with a track record of team leadership and of creating and maintaining strong safeguarding arrangements in a complex environment.
Well-versed in the safeguarding requirements of a similar organisation such both in the UK and overseas.
Main duties:
Lead the Safeguarding team [4 people], to ensure implementation of the charity's safeguarding policies and practice.
Ensure that the Safeguarding team members are provided with the professional support and supervision needed to succeed in their roles.
Lead the provision of specialist safeguarding expertise into the areas the team is responsible for.
Ensure the operation of effective arrangements and processes for the key elements of a strong safeguarding culture, including:
Operation of the Safeguarding Focal Point arrangements.
Responding to allegations against staff, representatives or others connected with the work of the charity.
Responding to concerns raised regarding the welfare of children.
Assurance of standards of safeguarding across the organisations directly delivered programmes and activities.
Support and assurance to partners, to ensure that suitable safeguarding arrangements are in place across all programmes and activities.
Develop child-focused and participative approaches to child safeguarding for the charity's activities.
Provision of training for staff and representatives including assurance of compliance.
Support to the recruitment processes, to ensure that those appointed are suitable to work with children.
Conduct and supervise investigations into safeguarding allegations or concerns, in line with policies and procedures.
Ensure that reporting arrangements are adhered to including to Executive Leadership Team and Board of Trustees.
Ensure that relevant policies and documentation are fit for purpose and in line with good professional practice.
Support Executive Directors and Chief Executive with expert safeguarding advice, as required to enable them to carry out their roles.
Support capacity building work, in the UK and with other members of the organisation's movement.
In all of these areas, you will develop and manage effective relationships with key colleagues across all areas of the charity.
