Major Donor Relationships Manager

Job description

Harris Hill is working with The Donkey Sanctuary to help them recruit a Major Donor Relationships Manager to lead and grow the existing major donor programme, building on a strong foundation of expertise, commitment and experience within the team.

The Donkey Sanctuary is one of the UK's largest international animal welfare charities; currently supporting projects in over 35 countries worldwide. We are working for a world where donkeys and mules live free from suffering, and their contribution to humanity is fully valued. We are achieving this by transforming the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people worldwide through greater understanding, collaboration and support, and by promoting lasting, mutually life-enhancing relationships.

Within our new Fundraising Strategy, we have an ambition to significantly grow annual income, reaching £50m per annum by 2022. This growth will come from a range of areas across the fundraising team, but one area where significant growth is anticipated is the philanthropy team.

Reporting to the Senior Philanthropy Manager and working within an ambitious, growing team, you will:

  • Personally manage and steward a portfolio of active major donors, forging and maintaining strong and enduring relationships.
  • Identify, engage and successfully steward prospective major donors.
  • Apply your proven relationship fundraising expertise and drive in order to substantially grow our major donor programme over the coming years.
  • Be a proactive, collaborative member of the philanthropy team and wider department.

You will have the ability to create and write persuasive and tailored major donor proposals, transposing, shaping and refining complex or limited programme and project information into compelling and powerful proposals and asks. You will be highly personable, proactive and successful at forging strong relationships, both internally and externally. You'll be a team player and someone who thrives in a target driven, ambitious environment and who embraces change.

If you feel you have the skills and experience and would like to be part of an ambitious and growing fundraising team, we would love to hear from you. Based partly in Sidmouth, Devon (an area of outstanding natural beauty) this is a full-time, permanent contract starting as soon as possible.
