Media and Communications Manager

Job description

Harris Hill are delighted to be supporting a fantastic health charity on their search for a Media and Communications Manager based in Bath.

The UK's only national charity dedicated to bone health and osteoporosis. They work to improve the bone health of the nation and support everyone with osteoporosis to live well through support services and advice. They also influence and shape policy and practice at every level through their work with healthcare professionals and policy-makers. They are driving research and the development of new treatments, working towards a future without osteoporosis.

Unlike other common, chronic conditions, osteoporosis has a low-profile in the UK, with only around one in four adults aware of what the condition means. People mistakenly believe that fractures are a natural part of getting older, whereas preventative action can transform people's quality of life and spare them the pain of osteoporosis.

This role has been created to change all that. The charity want to turn up the volume on osteoporosis and inspire millions of conversations about bone health. They want to become a campaigning charity and reposition themselves as a key influencer on the national stage.

To do that, they're looking for a dynamic communications professional to lead their media work and manage communications across the charity.
With a keen news sense and an eye for finding the story, this person will package up insights and evidence from research, delivery work and membership to drive coverage. They're looking for somebody who can draft and pitch impactful news, opinion pieces and features to help transform levels of earned media.

This individual must also have a proven track record of bringing together communications work across an organisation to deliver consistent messages and impactful campaigns, being able to pull on a broad range of experience across print and digital channels.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, and line managing a Communications Specialist and a Communications Officer, the role-holder will be the charity's chief publicist, with success measured by the presence the organisation are able to carve out in the highest-profile media and the communications the charity can leverage.

Location: Bath with remote options (Would need a driving license and access to a car as rural)

Salary: £38,337

Contract: Permanent
