Policy and Public Affairs Manager

Job description

Harris Hill are delighted to be working with an influential patient advocacy charity to recruit a Policy and Public Affairs Manager. This charity, run by patients for patients, is looking to bring on board an exceptional policy professional to help shape and deliver an exciting programme of work.

Working closely with the Chief Executive you will advance ways for the charity to play a critical role in tackling renal disease challenges and raise the scale and effectiveness of the policy and public affairs work. You will build on current policy activities, draw on the knowledge and expertise of our team, trustees and other professionals to become a key member of the Senior Management team.

This is a new position for the charity and an exciting time to join as an ambitious five year strategy was published in 2021. They are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic about getting stuck in  and have sufficient experience to think and act strategically and independently, without the need to lead large teams of people. It’s a job in which you can have an impact and leave a lasting legacy on renal patients across the UK.

Your key responsibilities in the role will be;

  • Building and fostering strategic relationships between the charity and members of the policy-making community at the highest levels, to strengthen the charities influence in the NHS, government and parliament
  • Policy analysis and the development of evidence-led policy positions on matters of key importance to patients
  • Planning and implementing advocacy, policy campaigns, and knowledge exchange activities to increase the impact of the charities work with key audiences
  • Pro-active preparation of position papers, briefings and statements and their use in advocacy and to inform policy thinking at early stages.

To be the ideal candidate for this position you should be able to demonstrate you have achievements in a policy setting in a similar role, ideally from a charity or consultancy background. You will be able to communicate persuasively and articulately to a range of audiences and able to build effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders.

This is critical role where you can have a genuine impact on the prevention and treatment of kidney disease in the UK, so if you want to be part of a small but effective team with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and make a difference, we want to hear from you.
