Press Officer

Job description

Harris Hill is working with a medical/ educational not for profit organisation, supporting their search for a Press Officer to cover a busy period of 3 months.

The role will include but is not limited to:

To further raise the profile of the organisation and increase national media coverage in line with campaign and policy priorities.
To pro-actively promote the work of the organisation and respond to media enquiries in order to enhance the standing and influence of the organisation nationally, regionally and internationally.
To draw up proactive communications plans around the organisations priorities, incorporating print, broadcast, online and social media.
To respond quickly and sensitively to negative or critical news stories, limiting potential damage to the reputation of the organisation
To write and edit material for internal and external audiences, including the Chair's weekly e-bulletin to organisational members and the quarterly membership magazine.

Experience:
Previous experience in journalism, press office or media environment
Demonstrable track record in writing and editing newspapers or magazines (portfolio required)
Proven experience of running proactive public relations campaigns and crisis management
Experience of working in a national membership organisation, charity or similar organisation
