Safeguarding Advisor (part-time)

Job description

A well-known international development charity based in Central London are looking for a Safeguarding Advisor (part-time). The post holder will be responsible for safeguarding management and organisation-level delivery of the safeguarding strategy. The post holder is responsible for overseeing safeguarding training and ensuring that the workforce and partners are trained appropriately. They are also responsible for ensuring that safeguarding due diligence processes are followed with partner. Please note this role is a FTC for 12 months.

Key responsibilities

  • Advise, train and coach managers and staff on the Safeguarding policy and practices 
  • Ensure all programmes have embedded best practice around safeguarding
  • Acts as the safeguarding officer
  • Participate in safeguarding investigations as required
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of safeguarding training
  • Conduct regular reviews of safeguarding incidents and provide both statistical and qualitative reports to the board
  • Developing relationships with relevant institutions across the regions of operation

Person specification

  • Postgraduate degree in development related field or social sciences
  • Experience of safeguarding and protection work for a public body or voluntary organization for both children and adults in vulnerable circumstances
  • Track record of providing effective safeguarding advice and guidance
  • Up to date knowledge of the latest legislation and best practice in relation to safeguarding and protecting children and adults  
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding as it relates to an organisation operating globally and working directly with beneficiaries
  • Experience of contributing to policy and procedure documents
