I am working with the Royal Opera House (ROH) Benevolent Fund, looking for a Secretary to the Fund (Part Time) to join the team. The ROH Benevolent Fund provides confidential advice, emotional support and financial assistance to those past and present employees (and their dependants) of the Royal Opera House and Birmingham Royal Ballet who need help. If, for whatever reason, they face hard times and find it difficult to manage, the Fund can offer help. The Fund also offers financial assistance to individuals or registered charitable organisations in the UK involved in opera, ballet and music.

Main purpose of the role:
To manage the day to day administration of the Fund and make recommendations to the Trustees.
The identification of potential beneficiaries, both individuals and other charities.
Management of the Welfare and Administration Officer and liaison with the ROH Occupational Health Advisor.
Maintaining regular contact with the Chairman and preparation for meetings of the Trustees and implementation of their decisions.
Making grant payments to and staying in touch with beneficiaries.
Work and liaise with the Fund's Accountant to prepare the monthly/quarterly management and year-end accounts.

The successful candidate will have the following key skills and experience:
Strong relationship management skills and communication skills.
Sensitivity and diplomacy in dealing with confidential information.
Some basic knowledge of Charity and Trust law, investment policies, grant making processes, tax and accounts.
Proficient MS Office skills, especially Excel and databases.
Well-developed written skills in preparing appraisals and reports.
Strong presentation skills and ability to steer meetings, through the Chairman.
Basic knowledge with book-keeping and accountancy to Final Accounts.
Ability to act as an Ambassador for the Royal Opera House Benevolent Fund.

This role is 3 days per week and the salary for the 3 days is £37K per annum.
