Senior Media Officer

Harris Hill are delighted to be supporting an international relief and development organisation in the search for a Senior Media Officer.

The role:

An integral part of the Media team this role will support the Media Manager to promote the charity’s work and concerns to the UK media through relationship building with key journalists, responding to media enquiries, issuing press releases and other information, and pitching and placing news stories and features.

Working to support their busy press office as Senior Media officer you will take a journalistic approach to identify news worthy stories, target mainstream media outlets and generate positive coverage for the organisation. You will thrive in a fast paced environment, reacting quickly to breaking issues and changing landscapes.

The Organisation:

This humanitarian aid and development agency work to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. The impactful organisation work in over 45 countries with their humanitarian and development projects typically helping over 10 million people every year.

Their projects support communities to better protect themselves against recurrent challenges such as drought and floods and delivering lifesaving emergency aid when disaster strikes. They provide vital services such as healthcare, water and sanitation and hygiene. Their livelihoods and education projects empower people to escape poverty and build brighter futures.

The Ideal Candidate:

You will be an experienced media professional, ideally with an understanding of International Development or Charity Communications with the ability to work to pace within a busy and ever changing press office. Your creative approach will see you think outside of the box in order to capture media and increase the organisations exposure in national print.

Salary: £32,263 (+£3000 London Weighting if applicable)

Location: London (or Remote across the UK)

Contract: Permanent
