Service Manager

Job description

A homelessness charity based in Reading are looking for a Service Manager. The Service / Project Manager has overall responsibility for both the development and the day to day running of the service (this includes accommodation and non-accommodation services). Please note this role is a FTC till March 2022.

Key responsibilities
To manage the service provided by Reading Street Population Outreach Team, The Nova Project and Great Knollys Street (Caversham Road).
To ensure delivery of high quality services to all stakeholders including those engaged in the designated street population(s), Borough of Reading, partner services and agencies, and those who reside, visit and work in Reading.
Managing, leading, motivating and developing the staff team.
The Service / Project Manager is the safeguarding lead for the project.
Liaison with the Property Services, RSLs and Rents teams to ensure provision of quality and seamless housing management service.
To monitor the service's income and expenditure in line with the budget.
To liaise with the Finance team in the preparation of project budgets.


Person specification
Experience of working with vulnerable homeless or disadvantaged people, in a relevant context.
Day to day management or supervision of staff or volunteers and a good understanding of effective techniques, processes and approaches to staff management.
Experience of working with challenging client behaviour and supporting staff in doing the same.
Organising a demanding and varied workload, planning work and projects and successfully
completing these to set deadlines.
Experience of building constructive working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts to produce positive outcomes.
Effectively maintaining processes, procedures and information systems to support the work of your team.
Production and/or analysis of evaluation data to demonstrate outcomes and impact.
