Services Manager

Job description

I am currently looking for an experienced and committed Services Manager for an amazing mental health charity. This temporary role (3 - 4 months) is to lead and manage community programmes throughout the charity ensuring positive recovery outcomes for people with mental health problems and their carers, providing leadership to staff teams.

Main duties:
Providing day to day operational management and leadership of services, to ensure that outcomes are achieved within budget and contract compliance and funder requirements are met
Working with the Director to develop new income streams and manage new contract services that meet the requirements of the organisation's strategy and business plan
Leading, managing and developing staff to achieve and exceed service objectives and targets to deliver positive outcomes for service users

The services you will be responsible for:
Information, advice and signposting
User involvement and peer support services
Training and employment services

Service Delivery and Client Evaluation:
Ensure that defined and measurable standards and key performance indicators are agreed with team members for service delivery and that these are achieved
Ensure that all services, for which the post is responsible, are monitored regularly by meetings with team members, engagement with client users, and analysis of statistical productivity data for submission to commissioners/funders
Introduce best practice standards into the organisation for each area of activity
Ensure that operational statistics are maintained, analysed and acted on
Ensure that equality and diversity are key considerations in service development and delivery

Development of new initiatives:
Assist the Director to seek opportunities for new developments new funding and new income streams for existing services.
Maximise opportunities to work collaboratively with external providers
Assist the Director to develop and present new fully costed business cases and service proposals, as required
Project manage the implementation of new initiatives as agreed by the board

Team Management:
Inspire, lead, support and motivate staff and volunteers, and delegate appropriately
Ensure that all service areas for which the post is responsible are adequately staffed, arranging cover for sickness, study leave and holidays when necessary and monitoring staffing hours and absences, as necessary
Provide regular management supervision to staff in accordance with the Mind's supervision policy
Ensure that all staff have regular appraisals and that personal development plans are agreed
With support from the Director and Personnel Administrator, to recruit, induct, and train appropriate staff within areas of responsibility
Support and nurture the work of volunteers engaged with areas responsibility

Engagement with external agencies and funders:
Ensure that funders are kept informed as required about activities, deliverables and service out-puts through regular monitoring reports
Build strong collaborative relationships and links with external agencies maximising the potential for generating referrals and partnership working
Assist the Director to explore new funding options, including tendering opportunities and lead or assist in the preparation of grant applications and bid writing for tenders
Promote and represent the charity, its work and service user interests to all external agencies with which the team works
Ensure the organisation and its services are widely understood and promoted both locally and nationally
To assist with the development and maintenance of information about services which may be required for publicity and fundraising purposes
