Harris Hill are pleased to be working with Canal & River Trust, to recruit their new Communications and Campaigns Manager. You will be designing bespoke communications plans and creating engaging campaigns that appeal to a range of audiences across London.

In this role you will be at the forefront of the Trust’s work to grow and establish their brand within London & South East. Working with an amazing team to help millions of people to understand and benefit from our incredible canals and rivers. Our canals and rivers are unique corridors of opportunity, heritage goldmines, dramatic film sets, environmental havens and sources of artistic inspiration that breath life in to the communities that surround them. You will be promoting every aspect of these incredible life giving resources and helping to ensure that the Trust has the support of those they benefit so we can preserve them for decades to come.

Key responsibilities:

You will act as a first point of contact for press enquires, sell stories in to journalists, bring life to our national campaigns, share content that motivates and inspires internal colleagues and shout about the incredible work that we do.

No day will be the same, one day you could be briefing the media the next out on a towpath coordinating a TV crew to help support one of our campaigns. You will be designing content that grabs the attention of communities, our waterways flow though London touching a hugely diverse population with multiple opportunities for engagement on many levels.

The ideal candidate:

  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent.
  • Understanding of the UK print, broadcast and social media – local, regional, national and trade – and experience working with journalists.
  • Experience of leading on delivery of and supporting national campaigns.
  • Experience of contributing to the creative development of new ideas, strategies, and stories as part of wider teams. 

Location: Based right by the iconic Little Venice pool.  

Salary: £35,752. (Plus benefits including a generous pension scheme).
