Communications Manager

Job description

A social welfare charity in London, seek a Communications Manager ASAP until end February on a full or part time basis.

Essentially, we are looking for an experienced candidate who can come in immediately and hit the ground running, so amount of days per week is flexible from 3 to 5.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for the strategy development following a brand refresh. There is some external support but need someone to implement basic KPI for tracking as well as over seeing the communications team day to day duties.

Other responsibilities include:
To lead on the immediate development of a Communications strategy and annual Communications and PR plan.
To manage a key message and Brand refresh, working with the Senior Leadership Team, the Board and key staff this work will be aligned to strategy and be implemented across an agreed mix of channels.
To ensure that the wider network (including staff, members and supporters) have a clear understanding of the key messages and are equipped and confident to use effectively.
To establish a system for tracking exposure and impact of communications across the range of channels used. To report monthly/quarterly on progress and ensure that learning is built in on an ongoing basis
To develop and manage an approach to collating informative practical material from across the organisation on our work that can be used in various forms and media ( in newsletters, publications, social media and printed matter) to ensure they achieve maximum exposure and impact.
To develop and execute a plan for maximising our online presence and involvement of social media with our members worldwide.
To be leading the content development for our websites and all related social media channels.

Experience:
Demonstrable significant experience of working at a senior level in a commercial or charity sector, leading on an organisation's strategic plans on comms.
Digital and online Communications experience and Knowledge
Experience of creating and implementing systems and process to track impact of Communications
Involvement in Brand reviews and refresh exercise, either as a lead or in a support capacity
Education to degree level or equivalent.
A background in journalism, communications or other relevant subject, highly advantageous.
Significant experience of working within the communications and/or PR sector.
Experience of planning and delivering a wide range of communication activities from events to targeted media initiatives.
