Community Engagement Manager

Job description

A cancer charity are looking for a Community Engagement Manager to raise awareness and recruit potential blood stem cell donors through various events and campaigns.
You will increase the number of online and off-line potential donors by organising and managing donor recruitment events and patient appeals together with volunteers.

Key Responsibilities:
-To represent the charity in public and inform about stem cell and bone marrow donation.
-To prepare and deliver presentations to companies, community groups and other organisations to promote the work of the charity
-To liaise with journalists and organise local public relations for events.
-To train volunteers and give advice about how they can effectively manage donor recruitment events, educate the public about blood cancer and raise funds for registration.
-To use the database to log event activity and track KPIs.
-To be responsible for high quality relationship management with a variety of stakeholders, some being particularly vulnerable.
-To network with relevant partners such as patient support groups, volunteers, companies, schools & universities and media representatives in establishing opportunities for the charity
-To identify and generate leads to attract new donors and supporters.
-To develop projects that focus on core target groups
-To work with colleagues to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.

Skills and Experience Required:
-Experience of project management particularly in community event planning and organisation.
-Sensitivity and empathy in working with people.
-Ability to form effective internal and external relationships.
-Previous experience of working with different cultural groups and nationalities.
-Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines.
-Strong organisational skills.
-Strong communication and presentation skills
-Previous experience of working with the media would be advantageous but not essential.
