Data Protection Coordinator

Job description

A leading national youth development charity based in London are looking for a Data Protection Coordinator. This is a key role as it focuses on implementing the charity's data protection policies and leading on the responses to data subject requests. The Data Protection Coordinator will work in close liaison with the Data Protection Officer, ResolutionManager and Area teams (mainly the Area Officers and the Volunteer & Business Support Managers).

Key responsibilities

To support the Data Protection Officer (DPO) with informing and advising the charity and its managers and employees of their obligations under GDPR and Data protection legislation.
To support the DPO to monitor compliance with GDPR and other applicable data protection
legislation and with Charity's data protection policies, including:
Assigning responsibilities within the charity b. Raising awareness
Training staff
Conducting compliance audits
Reporting to Trustees and SMT at regular intervals
To develop a range of resources to help staff and volunteers to best comply with their data protection responsibilities.
To act as the first point of contact for volunteers and employees and line managers for all Data Protection issues in line with company policies and procedures, or escalating matters where appropriate.
To support the DPO and Data Controller on other data related projects and initiatives.
To capture and collate data for our KPI reporting.

Person specification
Knowledge of and experience in applying Data
Protection legislation and GDPR
Experience of processing Subject Access
Requests
Experience of delivering projects to meet agreed outputs and outcomes and of delivering against reporting procedures and requirements.
Experience of working in a customer facing role, including handling enquiries by telephone and email.
Strong IT literacy
