Database Manager

Job description

A growing health charity is looking for a Database Manager. This is an extremely exciting time to join this charity. They have implemented a restructure, enabling us to better manage the strategy for supporting a fast-growing charity with significant plans for fundraising growth over the next few years.
You will be managing the Database Officer and Database Analyst in providing an excellent level of database management, and in analysing and manipulating data in order to inform decisions on fundraising strategy and the overall supporter journey for the charity. You will lead the team to achieve these organisational aims as well as their own personal development goals.
Key responsibilities
Lead a team of two, ensuring that each staff member is supported to achieve optimum performance and development.
Work with the Head of Supporter Care & Database Services to create a comprehensive data strategy for the charity, ensuring business needs are anticipated and met.
Lead the implementation of the data strategy, helping to drive future fundraising growth by ensuring the right foundations are in place to support and facilitate ambitious new plans and activities. Manage database developments and new systems and processes.
Act as the lead database expert across the charity and manage the Database Services team Manage the use of software suppliers and third parties.
Review and update Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for the Database Services team and agree these with the Head of Supporter Care & Database Services
Ensure excellent levels of database maintenance and standards from the team
Manage the Database Services team to deliver accurate and timely data selections in support of fundraising appeals and activities, and to provide insight and guidance to support effective selections
Manage the Database Services team to contribute to the overall Supporter Journey, by offering expert guidance and support in data-driven decisions
Person Specification
Line management experience
Project management experience
Ability to delegate work to staff and to monitor and evaluate their performance.
Ability to think strategically; to combine attention to detail with a big picture view, in order to create a strategy and then distil this into specific projects to implement or delegate.
Experience of database management, including using a database to enter, maintain, and import data, and to analyse trends.
Excellent attention to detail and numeracy skills, and ability to manage and prepare financial information and analysis.
Up to date knowledge of data protection guidelines including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
High computer literacy with comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
Able to prioritise and organise own workload and to organise and monitor the workload of others, reacting to busy and changing circumstances.
Experience of working in fundraising or a charitable organisation.
Good understanding of Gift Aid regulations and procedures.
