Development and Retention Officer

Harris Hill is working with an Animal charity to source a Development and Retention Officer ASAP for 3-4 months, whilst they recruit permanently.

The Development and Retention Officer (DRO) plays a key role in the delivery of our supporter development programme by leading on the tactical delivery of development, retention and legacy marketing projects.
The DRO is responsible for developing and stewarding tens of thousands of supporters from the point of acquisition or leads generated from campaigns, through to legacy giving. They will ensure that our busy schedule of offline and online communications is delivered on time and within budget. The DRO will project manage appeals on a variety of channels including mail, telephone, and social media and will help develop various fundraising products including regular giving, cash, gaming and sponsorship.
This is a busy role for which day-to-day duties will be constantly changing. As such we are primarily focussed on transferrable skills and an ability to learn rather than explicitly relevant experience within the same field.
Essential
Experience of working in a fundraising or marketing environment, or similar target-driven environment
Project management skills and the ability to prioritise projects appropriately and according to organisational goals
Pro-active, driven and independent, able to take initiative and conduct robust risk assessments
Strong organisational skills: comfortable planning, managing and evaluating multiple projects simultaneously
Strong relationship management and negotiation skills, with the ability to foster strong and mutually-beneficial working relationships
Excellent IT skills, proficient in Excel with an understanding of how to interpret data
Strong analytical skills: able to spot trends and pull out useful learnings, whilst also thinking critically and understanding the wider context
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to tailor communications appropriately for different stakeholders and styles.
Knowledge of performance monitoring and measuring, able to interpret results and deliver usable insight
Creative skills and the ability to shape and refine creative appeals according to brand guidelines, with strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
Strong time management skills and able to meet and manage deadlines
A solution-focused approach to work and able to work collaboratively with a varied and busy team.
