Director of Programmes

Job description

A charity are looking for a new Director of Programmes to lead the programmes team and oversee the delivery and management of their educational programmes. You will ensure that their programmes with schools and colleges achieve impact as they are rapidly scaled.

They are looking for an experienced leader with a collaborative, entrepreneurial approach and experience of managing programmes and high-performing teams to achieve ambitious targets.

You will have strong leadership capabilities: combining exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to oversee continual improvements of systems and products, using data to make effective decisions.

This role is a high-impact leadership position within the organisation, sitting on the Senior Leadership Team and reporting to the CEO. As the charity begins their next three-year strategy, the Director of Programmes will be able to have a systemic impact as we work to make their approach the standard in the education system.

Key Responsibilities:
-Provide leadership for the Education Programmes Delivery team of approximately 15 
-Maximising the impact of work on students' skill development.
-Ensuring the delivery of programmes is to the highest possible standards, and gathering the data and insights to drive improvement.
-Using project management tools to manage activities and team workload.
-Driving the growth of school and college partnerships and sales.
-Successfully managing the re-enrolment processes to retain schools and colleges.
-Working alongside Regional Managers to support the charity in improving its communications to existing schools and colleges, ensuring that key messages and approaches are coordinated.
-Creating a full training plan for the Programmes Team through regular Team Days and forums.
-Leading and co-ordinating the training of Education Associates with regards to school programmes, as they are recruited, through modelling good practice, observation and feedback, and supporting reflection
-Increasing the efficiency of programmes delivery by overseeing how delivery is allocated and that any capacity is used effectively.
-Working with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure that we work in a flexible, stream-lined and efficient way when delivering our programmes in schools and colleges, sharing best practice across all regions.

Skills and Experience required:
- Extensive experience of managing programmes (ideally education)
-Strong management experience with ability to manager high-performing teams to achieve ambitious targets
- Outcomes Focused with the ability to drive the team's progress against strategic goals.
- Strong problem Solving skills - with the ability to manage operational challenges to tough strategic problems, a structured analytical approach with a head for data will be essential for making good decisions.
-Excellent organisational skills to ensure the effective delivery of all programmes and manage the prioritisation of different work streams.
- Relationship Building & Sales Experience - Considerable experience of being able to build and manage relationships, and an aptitude for being able to engage new schools and other stakeholders with their programmes as well as retain current partners
