Communications Officer

Harris Hill are delighted to be supporting a pioneering human rights charity in their search for a Communications Officer to join their growing communications team.

Working remotely, with some regular travel to their Birmingham office, your role as Communications Officer will be to lead strategic engagement with core members, Communities of Practice and stakeholders.

In order to do this you will:

  • Research and create attracting content (both online and offline) that will engage and appeal to various membership audiences.
  • Raise awareness of the charity’s work and gain momentum with stakeholders on issues using storytelling to amplify the voices of members with lived experiences.
  • Show a strong understanding of accessibility considerations, particularly for those with learning disabilities and autistic people, to ensure content is accessible to ALL audiences.
  • Utilise all communications platforms including social media (Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn), webinars, conferences and other channels to improve engagement among key audiences for the organisation.

The charity has been championing the human rights of people with disabilities for 50 years. They work to develop the skills and culture necessary to understand people's needs and improve their quality of life.

They help those supporting people with complex needs including their members, universities, government departments, local authorities, NHS trusts, service providers and mainstream organisations - to champion rights, ensure excellent support and continually improve practice. They do this through a range of training, consultancy services, projects, publications, conferences and more.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience managing and implementing strategic engagement plans
  • Experience of managing social media channels
  • Experience of creating content for multiple channels
  • Experience managing and running events (digital and in-person)

Location - Fully Remote with travel to Birmingham

Contract - Permanent 

Salary - £25,000 - £29,000
