Finance Officer (part-time)

We are seeking a part-time finance officer to work 2 days a week (or flexible hours). This is the perfect place to work if you are a committed person and you're comfortable working in a supportive family environment.
Job Purpose:
- Maintain control by entering transactions into the finance system (SAGE), processing bank receipts & payments, checking staff expenses & credit card receipts, assisting with monthly payroll and preparing quarterly VAT returns.
- Support the decision-making process by assisting with budgets and cash flow forecasts.
- Assist the Financial Controller with preparation for statements for the annual audit.
- Deputise for the Financial Controller and take responsibility for other appropriate duties as requested.
Personal Specification
Experience of financial management and processing financial transactions preferably in a small organisation.
Good IT skills with strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office (including Excel), an electronic financial ledger system and a commercial online banking portal.
Understanding of basic purchase and sales ledger processes, preparing bank reconciliations, putting together simple journal entries.
A formal qualification such as AAT Level 4 (or part-qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
Knowledge and working experience of Sage Line 50.
Understanding of regulatory requirements for UK-based charities (HMRC VAT and PAYE processes, Companies House and Charity Commission filings etc.)
Experience of working in the charity or not-for-profit sector
