Financial Accountant (part-time)

Harris Hill are working alongside a small charity based in central London who are looking for a resourceful Financial Accountant who is experienced in the charity finance sector. This role will suit you if you prefer the flexibility of part-time hours (21 hours a week with flexible days).

The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a relaxed but professional environment as you will be part of a small dedicated team. There will be scope to help modernise the charity's financial processes with the opportunity to offer your creative recommendations.

This is a varied role and you will initially taken on with a temporary one year's contract with a view to going permanent. The reason for a temp2perm contract is they currently considering a potential relocation out of Zone 1.

Responsibilities include:
- Produce the quarterly accounts (commenting on any considerable fluctuations from the budgetary plan)
- Update quarterly journal and investment spreadsheets
- Assist the Finance Manager with preparing yearly accounts
- Supervise the work of the Finance Officer
- Prepare reports for the investment advisory group
- Monitor the Charity's bank adjusts to guarantee the allocation of funds for the different projects.
- Prepare the yearly budgets and re-adjustments
- Prepare and review previous budgets for the yearly review
- Ensure all auditor questions are answered
- Produce the quarterly VAT returns
- Manage the VAT functions
- Manage the philanthropy accounts focusing on commitments and instalments
- Process month-to-month spreadsheets and review yearly spend
- Process various accounts as fitting (collections, prepayments and so forth)
- Complete Balance Sheet
- Co-ordinate the procedures for Payments

- strong Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables)
- ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) or part qualified
- Current VAT knowledge & experience

Desirable:
- Previous experience of working the finance team of a charity
- Management experience
- 2 years previous+ experience in a similar role
- Experience of being responsible for month-end/year-end closure
- Experience of using financial modelling or reporting tools
- A willingness to coach and to be coached
- Good project management skills
- An interest in IT/digital technology

This is a part-time role - 21 hours a week.

Salary: £40,000 pa (pro-rata salary based on a 3-day working week)
