Head of Business Development

The successful candidate will lead the team to raise multi-year income for the charity's Federation from institutional donors. This leadership role is responsible for developing and executing income generation strategies with institutional donors which the charity is the delegated lead for. The role seeks a courageous, caring, and creative leader, committed to embedding feminist and anti-racist principles into business development practice, and upholding charity's principles on human rights-based approaches and feminist leadership.

Person specification

- A track record of designing, negotiating, and writing winning funding applications from international development donors, particularly those of particular relevance to the charity
- A conscientious and dedicated manager, able to adopt a non-hierarchical management approach to coach and support team members in a range of roles and career stages.
- Able to work at strategic/macro level to develop the vision and goals of the team, and also at the micro level to establish procedures, review proposals and contracts, and manage budgets.
- A skilled communicator, both written and verbal, able to craft winning funding proposals and present ActionAid to a wide range of audiences.
- A thoughtful relationship manager, able to build and maintain relationships with donors, partners and sector stakeholders, and navigate consortia or partnership relationships with a nuanced understanding of power and equity.
- An excellent project manager, with the ability to lead and work collaboratively with virtual, international teams in high pressure environments in meeting tight deadlines.
