Founded in 2014 by a small team conscious that one of the wealthiest cities in the world experiences food poverty and staggering food waste daily, City Harvest's goal is to connect all available surplus food with those who desperately need it.
City Harvest is now well established as London's emergency response unit for surplus food, with our vans being recognised as symbols of hope for those facing hunger. To date, City Harvest has delivered approaching 25 million meals, whilst offsetting food waste and greenhouse gas emissions.
We provide a lifeline of support for beneficiaries, not only through food but the social connection our food forges. The physical and emotional loads some have had to carry is astounding and City Harvest stands as a pillar of support for vulnerable Londoners. Through the long-lasting relationships with our 350+ charity partners, we have been able to reach millions.
Demand for our food continues to grow and we intend to be equipped to meet it. We have just moved into a new depot, significantly increasing our warehouse capacity, and have received strong support from our funders year on year.
City Harvest are looking for a Head of Community Impact to join the team on a permanent basis.
City Harvest - Head of Community Impact
Location: Acton, West London (flexible working available)
Salary: 45,000 - 50,000 per annum
The Head of Community Impact will work closely with the CEO to develop our Community strategy and lead all engagement activity with our community partners to enable City Harvest to achieve its ambitious growth strategy and materially impact hunger in London. A vital responsibility will be to develop deep and enduring networks with and amongst our charity partners and to be the most trusted adviser on all community-related issues and emerging themes. Deepen the quality of our impact, grow the number of charities served and enhance our reputation.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the UK and London charity sector, governance, and legal requirements. A deep understanding of the importance of food to communities, families, and individuals. The candidate will need to provide evidence of delivering successful and enduring outcomes whilst overcoming challenging circumstances. Practical experience of applying audit to conduct root cause analysis and embed a culture of continuous improvement. You must have experience of leading and developing teams and embedding efficient systems and processes.
