Head of Service Development & Delivery

Location: Rugby

Reports to: COO

Salary: £60,000

Full-time, permanent

Role core purpose

  • Contribute to the strategic direction and operational effectiveness of the charity
  • Lead the development and implementation of a strategic plan that meets charity's supporting objectives and requirements
  • Build capability and capacity within, and around, the team to support the delivery of the strategic plan
  • Liaise and collaborate with the whole leadership team ensuring plans and activities are for the good of the organisation. Promote and encourage effective team working
  • Deliver on key performance indicators (KPIs) across the charity, aiming to deliver continuous improvement, and set KPIs for delivery across all managed areas being accountable for monitoring and reporting on performance, and evaluation to achieve greater impact and return
  • Review and continuously improve business models and processes to reflect contemporary working practices, adopting new technology, security, and innovation to support agility and efficiency gains and compliance
  • Effective budgetary management, forecasting, financial control, and management of expenditure across managed areas to derive best value and impact
  • Identification and management of risk for managed areas including continuous review of robust continuity measures
  • Proactively promote safeguarding practice, EDI, health and safety and the wellbeing of all employees and stakeholders


Person specification

  • Significant experience of leading a team across all levels, and growing individual and organisational capacity
  • Proven leadership and management skills, engaging in a collaborative way across all levels/teams in an organisation including a Board of Trustees
  • Understanding of quality assurance and safeguarding practices
  • Solid understanding of latest trends and practice in health and social care
  • Understanding of quality assurance and safeguarding practices
  • Prior experience of designing and delivering a training intervention to achieve strategic objectives
  • Sound budgetary management and forecasting
  • KPI setting and reporting
